Watching Shipping Data for Trade Policy Impacts

Jeffrey Kleintop thinks the OECD is “not finished cutting” its growth expectations for this year. He gives some ideas around timelines for trade deals, noting that the way the Trump administration and China look at trade are very different, which will likely drag negotiations out even further. He’s watching shipping data and waiting for China shipments to the U.S. to rise again. “It’s very expensive to realign these things,” he adds.
