WMT ‘Best Retailer’, COST ‘Best Club’, DKS Buying FL ‘A Good Plan’

Jan Rogers Kniffen surveys the retail sector. “What’s not to like?” in Walmart earnings, he asks, pointing to strong comparable sales. “They’re the best retailer.” His only downside is the lack of forward guidance for the next quarter. He calls Costco (COST) the “best club in the country,” and previews what he expects from their earnings. He was “shocked” by Dick’s Sporting Goods (DKS) acquisition of Foot Locker (FL), but thinks it’s “a good plan.”
