E55: Possession and Religious Horror with C.S. Humble

Today I have C.S. Humble on the show to talk about his new religious horror book, “All These Subtle Deceits,” out now from Sadie Hartman’s “Dark Harts” series. The book feels very much like a cross between “The Exorcist” and Neil Gaiman’s “Sandman.” It follows an excommunicated priest who tries to rid people of the ghosts and demons that haunt them. One woman’s possession proves especially difficult in the first of this five part series. We chat about influences from catholicism, art, literature, and current politics. We also talk about the process of writing, and pulling from our “personal wells” as writers. It’s a rich conversation and it was a pleasure to chat with C.S. Thank you for joining us today.
