More Than A Superstar

Lyrics Below — **“More Than a Superstar”** is a warm, early-1970s-inspired Christian country-rock song recalling the Jesus Movement of 1971, when a generation of young people encountered Christ in coffeehouses, on the streets, and through music. Driven by wide acoustic guitars, melodic electric guitar, natural drums, prominent congas and Latin percussion, warm piano and Hammond organ, the song carries a relaxed West Coast rock feel with strong male harmonies. The message is personal and direct: Jesus was never merely a cultural “superstar”—He was the Savior who brought salvation, freedom, new life, and the experience of being born again. ## More Than A Superstar [Intro] [two loud acoustic guitars hard left and hard right] [interlocking country-rock strumming and picked figures] [melodic electric bass and natural acoustic drums enter] [prominent congas, shaker and tambourine build underneath] [clean electric guitar plays a short melodic response] [Verse 1] 1971, revolution just begun Across the land from coast to coast, people getting filled with the Holy Ghost Tongues of fire falling on a brand new generation Lord, You were more than a superstar, You brought to me salvation [Chorus] Nobody loved me like You, oh my Lord You make me feel brand new You put this love in my heart that I never had before Like a butterfly I was born again [Verse 2] Playing my guitar, coffee houses near and far Redemption songs that I would sing, joy of the Lord and the love it brings Word of the Lord, well it came to me, brought me out of my misery Lord, You were more than a superstar, You gave Your life on Calvary [Chorus] Nobody loved me like You, oh my Lord You make me feel brand new You put this love in my heart that I never had before Like a butterfly I was born again [Bridge] You're so good, so good to me I was bound, but now I'm free Thank You Lord, You've been good to me [Guitar Solo] [Chorus] Nobody loved me like You, oh my Lord You make me feel brand new You put this love in my heart that I never had before Like a butterfly I was born again [Verse 3] Bible in my hand, preaching on the streets People yelled, “Hey Jesus freak,” didn't bother me in the least The Holy Spirit falling on a brand new generation Lord, You were more than a superstar, You brought to me salvation [Final Chorus] Nobody loved me like You, oh my Lord You make me feel brand new You put this love in my heart that I never had before Like a butterfly I was born again [Outro] You put this love in my heart that I never had before Like a butterfly I was born again
