The $30,000 Bequest is a short story by the beloved satirist Mark Twain. The tale begins with a modest, thrifty, and average family who's lives are upended by a note that claims a relative will soon leave the family an inheritance of $30,000. This note, however, has a catch, the family cannot tell anyone about the money or ask about the benefactor's death. With this news the family begins to change in a humorous story that critiques human nature. This story is narrated by John Greenman and edited by TMSOFT.
