About Stephen Allkins Stephen Allkins, also known by his production moniker Love Tattoo, is one of the foundations upon which Sydney’s electronic and disco scene was built. From his early days as a DJ in the warehouses, loft parties and late-night clubs of the 1980s, to his influence across the 1990s and beyond, Allkins has continually shaped the sound and identity of dance culture in Australia. As one of the original resident DJs of the iconic clubs Kinselas and The Hordern Pavilion, Stephen brought the energy and sophistication of New York, Chicago and London’s underground movements to Sydney audiences. His sets were famous for bridging the gap between soul, disco, house and newer electronic sounds, inspiring generations of Australian DJs and producers. Beyond the decks, Stephen is best known for his production alias Love Tattoo, with releases on respected labels such as Ministry of Sound, Hussle Recordings and Derivative. His 2001 classic “Bass Has Got Me Movin’” became one of the defining moments of Australian house, earning him international recognition and solidifying his reputation as a producer with deep musical roots and broad creative vision. Today, Stephen remains a revered figure within Sydney’s music community. His sets cover decades of music discovery — always soulful, always connected to the dancefloor.
