In episode four of The Mediumship Sessions, Donna King and I move from our earlier conversations about psychic awareness into the foundations of mediumship: recognising subtle changes, making room for spirit and learning to trust your own way of working.

I share how difficult I found sitting with a busy mind, the techniques that left me overthinking, and the difference it made when I began keeping things simple. Donna brings her experience, warmth and practical suggestions for noticing your energy without putting yourself under pressure to have a particular experience.

There is plenty of laughter, some very honest reflection and a reminder we both return to: development takes time, and your mediumship does not have to look like somebody else's.

• Holding your awareness while working with a sitter.
