Catch up with someone in English using small-talk phrases for meeting again after time apart. “Long time no see” and “I haven’t seen you for ages” help you greet someone you already know.
To continue the conversation, “The last time I saw you, you were…” brings back an earlier topic, while “Did you end up getting that promotion?” asks how something turned out. The lesson also covers asking about work, studies and family, passing on regards and giving compliments.
Ending a friendly conversation can be just as difficult as starting one. “I’d better let you go” offers a polite way to finish, while “Give me your email and I’ll drop you a line” helps you keep in touch. These English conversation phrases are useful when reconnecting with old friends or chatting with colleagues before and after a meeting.
