#1 The Wise Grandfather Turtle

The story of The Wise Grandfather Turtle was written as a therapeutic response to this time of the pandemic. In Waldorf Early Childhood education, teachers will often tell the children a therapeutic story when there is a need. There are times when the teacher notices a challenging behavior in the classroom or a child in their care has experienced trauma.  The aim of therapeutic stories is to bring healing images and gestures through the stories we tell.

This story offers the image of a Wise Grandfather Turtle who knows how to keep all the little animals in his pond safe after a big storm. The pond is too messy to be enjoyed so a frog family, heeding Grandfather Turtles' advice stays home while Grandfather Turtle gets to work tidying up the pond for all.
