G. Campbell Morgan | The Great Physician: How Jesus Heals the Human Soul

Om avsnittet

What does it really mean to see Jesus as the Great Physician—and how does Christ actually deal with individual people? In this episode, we begin working through G. Campbell Morgan’s classic book The Great Physician, exploring his powerful teaching on Jesus Christ, faith, repentance, salvation by grace, and the healing of the human soul. The conversation begins with why classic Christian teachers like G. Campbell Morgan, A.W. Tozer, Leonard Ravenhill, Charles Spurgeon, and Derek Prince still matter. Rather than simply memorizing theology, doctrine, or eschatological positions, the goal is to learn how these preachers approached Scripture and cultivated a real relationship with God.Morgan’s central picture is Jesus as the physician who came for the sick. Drawing from the Gospel accounts in Matthew, Mark, and Luke, the discussion examines Christ’s declaration that those who are whole have no need of a physician, but those who are sick do. This leads into a deeper discussion about sinners, religious criticism, modern church culture, evangelism, and why Jesus intentionally surrounded Himself with people the religious establishment rejected. The episode then examines John 2:24-25 and the remarkable statement that Jesus “knew what was in man.” Because Christ knows humanity both universally and individually, He never deals with two people in exactly the same way. Morgan describes humanity as “spiritual in essence, sinning in experience, salvable by grace.”The discussion also explores John 1, the Word becoming flesh, spirit, soul and body, repentance, seeking first the Kingdom of God, worship, music and frequency as an analogy for “missing the mark,” human potential, and the difference between outward religion and genuine fellowship with Christ through the Holy Spirit. One of Morgan’s strongest conclusions is that there are no hopeless cases. Jesus sees what a person can become through grace, even when everyone else sees only failure. The episode closes by examining how Christ approached Andrew, Peter, Philip, Nathaniel, Nicodemus and others differently—and why genuine Christian ministry must flow from fellowship with Jesus rather than credentials, debate culture, or performance.
