Tao of the Day 02_099

Today was a nice Tao as I chose #27 which surprised me because I know #27 so well and I didn't recall that when I picked it. I was then joined by Kimie who chose #57 and had a few questions on the Tao that Dr. Rao came up to help me field. I was happy to then welcome Dr. M and his chapter #9 which we had read for him before so I moved over to the Hogan translation to help him get a new perspective.

#9
If you drink too much, you get drunk.
The engine won't start if you're always tinkering with it.

If you hoard wealth,
you fall into its clutches.
If you crave success,
you succumb to failure.

Do what you have to do, then walk away.
Anything else will drive you nuts.

#27
With enough practice,
you could walk without leaving any footprints.
Speak without stumbling over your words.
Do complicated math problems in your head.
You could build a door with no lock
that nobody could open.
You could tie something down with no knots,
without even a rope,
and nobody could get it loose.

Masters have time to help everybody,
and ignores nobody.
They uses their resources wisely,
wasting nothing.
Some people call this "following the light."

Good people teach others
who have the potential to be good.
Brains count for nothing
if you fail to respect your teachers
or to honor the potential in others.
That's one of the most important lessons of Tao.

#56
Those who know don't talk.
Those who talk don't know.

Close your mouth,
block off your senses,
blunt your sharpness,
untie your knots,
soften your glare,
settle your dust.
This is the primal identity.

Be like the Tao.
It can't be approached or withdrawn from,
benefited or harmed,
honored or brought into disgrace.
It gives itself up continuously
