Episode 9 // Deuteronomy 21 - Joshua 17 // Dr. Ryan Bonfiglio

This week, we are joined by Dr. Ryan Bonfiglio, Assistant Professor of Old Testament at Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. 

Ryan, Nicki Taylor, and Mat Hotho discuss the conclusion of Deuteronomy and the Pentateuch. Moses dies without entering the land and we reflect on what this tragic ending would have meant for the Israelites reading this text. Joshua brings the people into the land and with that conquest comes  the issue of violence associated with the command to “utterly destroy” the cities in the promised land. We touch on those two topics and more in the episode.
