Fans of The Walking Dead know it’s so much more than a zombie show. It’s an emotionally rich, character-driven series about love and loss, and found family, and the lengths we’d go through to protect the people we care about. That’s what’s kept us coming back all these years. (And also we like zombies.)
I’m Jason Cabassi. My cohost Karen and I started podcasting about The Walking Dead back in 2010. Along the way, I’ve appeared on the show a couple of times as a walker, hosted hundreds of Q&A panels with TWD actors at conventions across the U.S., and eventually teamed up with my current co-host, the witty and insightful Lucy Hinnie. Together—with some incredible guests—we’ve covered The Last of Us and every Walking Dead spinoff, from Fear to Dead City.
Right now, we’re enjoying a rewatch of the original series—with the full story in mind—and diving into the moments that still hit hard. Past guests on the podcast include Andrew Lincoln (Rick), Danai Gurira (Michonne), Norman Reedus (Daryl), Steven Yeun (Glenn), Lauren Cohan (Maggie), Robert Kirkman, Angela Kang, Greg Nicotero, and many more.
And the most fun and fulfilling part of all this has absolutely been interacting with you guys and making it a conversation. So write in, send a voice message, and be part of it!

We’re Podcastica, and we’ve been doing episode-by-episode deep dives into great TV for over a decade now. We’re fans, and we aim to enhance your experience of these shows.
In this final episode of our Season 2 coverage of The Walking Dead: Dead City, Ben and Alex take a step back to reflect on the full season. We read and respond to all the amazing listener feedback submitted for the finale, sharing your thoughts, reactions, and standout moments. Then we dive into our overall impressions of the season—what worked, what surprised us, and what left us wanting more. We wrap things up by looking ahead to Season 3, discussing the storylines and character arcs we’re most excited (and hopeful) to see continue. Thanks for coming along for the ride!
Next up: We’ll be taking some time off to decompress after a busy first half of 2025 — Maybe go out side and take a walk? Get some fresh air? — And then Jason and Lucy will be back on July 21 (or so) to continue the Waking Dead rewatch! We left off with TWD S4E13 “Alone”, the one where Beth gets kidnapped. Let us know your thoughts.
If you want something else to listen to in the meantime, Jason can be found over on Squid Game ‘Cast for the final season of that show now, and soon he’ll be releasing the first ep of his new podcast, Wax Episodica, covering the upcoming Alien: Earth series, and more exciting things to come. All of that can be found at podcastica.com.

We kick things off by going through listener feedback for Episode 7, highlighting your thoughts, reactions, and theories. Then it’s full steam ahead into the Season 2 finale, “If History Were a Conflagration.” From Negan’s brutal standoff with Bruegel to Maggie’s heartbreaking decision, and the shifting alliances across Manhattan, we break down all the key moments and emotional turns that bring this explosive season to a close.

I couldn’t help but notice that several of our Podcastica hosts have voices that are… let’s just say, exceptionally rich and resonant. So I thought—why not get them all together for a fun, laid-back conversation? In this special episode of our usually Patreon-exclusive Listener Chitchat series, I’m joined by four of our deepest-voiced dudes, Erik, Jonathan, Greg, and Alex, to talk podcasting, fandoms, Star Wars, The Walking Dead, and whatever else comes up. It’s a relaxed hang with some of the smoothest voices on the network—just for the fun of it.
Enjoy!

Before we get to The Last of Us S2 here’s the repost I promised, from back in 2020 when Erik and I (Jason) were fresh off their first playthrough of The Last of Us Part II and eager to express how freaking great we thought it was!
But fair warning! Season 2 will more-or-less follow the plot of the game, so don’t listen unless you’ve played or watched the game, or if you don’t mind spoilers. There’s a ~30-minute non-spoilery segment up front where we talk about gameplay and things like that, and then a ~45-minute super-spoilery-AF segment.
Next week, Lucy and Jason will be back with a season 1 catch-up that won’t have any S2 spoilers.

The Last of Us season 2 is just around the corner, premiering Sunday April 13, and we’re excited!!! Join Jason, Erik, and Ben to chat about the new season.
SPOILER WARNING: This episode is divided into two segments, with different levels of spoilery-ness:
1: News about the upcoming season, with LIGHT to MEDIUM spoilers. We talk about some of the characters and broad-setups for storylines. If you don’t mind the kinds of spoilers that appear in trailers and pre-season news articles, you’re safe listening to this segment.
2: Our thoughts and hopes on how the series will play out, based on what we know about the games, with HEAVY spoilers about what happened in the games, which often aligns with the show. Only listen to this if you’ve played or watched the games, or you don’t care at all about spoilers.
Next week, Lucy and Jason will be back with a season 1 catch-up that won’t have any S2 spoilers.

Feels great getting back to the rewatch with this first episode of season four right as we enter a new year, especially since these next couple of seasons are (in our opinion) some of the finest of the show! We’re thrilled to be joined again by Karen Shih to talk about “30 Days Without an Accident”.

We’re back in the dystopian world of Silo, where ten thousand people live in a giant silo hundreds of stories deep underground, in society full of regulations they believe are meant to protect them. But some wonder if they’ve been lied to about why this silo was created and why they’re there.
Join Jason, Amelie, and Veronica as talk go through the first six episodes of season two and talk about what stands out in this gripping Apple TV+ series.
Our coverage of Silo season 1:

Another season in the books! As often has happened in this rewatch, Lucy and I both came to this episode with a new perspective: I think I liked it more than the first time and Lucy less though :) Hope you enjoy our talk.
As a bonus, we’re joined by Karen (!!) to talk about her and my experience being zeds in this episode.

Wow, we both forgot what a great episode this one is (and I think we both have a new appreciation for it now, too). Sad, weighty, interesting, well-written, and well-acted. A good send-off for Merle.

Hey, anyone need some cheering up, by any chance? You’ve come to the right place. First off, Karen and Wendy are on this one, so that’s probably enough said. But also, the three of us talk about a bunch of different ways we cheer ourselves up when we’re feeling down. And then we chat about the hilarious 2014 vampire roommate mockumentary, What We do in the Shadows, which puts a smile on all our faces and I think it will yours too. Hope you guys enjoy :)

PS: Was “The Book of Carol” a good subtitle? What do you think season 3 will be called?

What a pleasure to talk to the talented Josh Hamilton, the man behind the enigmatic, calculating, and endlessly watchable Walking Dead antagonist, Lance Hornsby!
Lucy and I (with the help of you guys) asked him about all kinds of things, including:
• Josh’s experience listening to our podcast
• How much he knew about Lance’s character arc from the beginning
• What kind of society he’d like to be a part of in the ZA
• Whether Lance believes in the ideals of the Commonwealth or it’s more about power for him
• Lance’s backstory
• Josh’s thoughts about various WD characters and actors
• What the mood was like working on his 1993 film, Alive
• What stands out to him about working on the 2018 Bo Burnham-directed movie Eighth Grade
• What he thinks about Lance’s fashion sense
• What it’s like to be on TWD as it’s ending
• And a lot more!

Bonus episode? I guess you could call it that.... For awhile I've been promising our drunken review of TWD season one finale, and here it finally is, in all it's shameless glory. If you're amused by such things, enjoy! (If not, please do skip it, for all our sakes.)P.S. Listening to this again, I was a little surprised at how much better I liked the finale back then than I do in hindsight. Zombie goggles?P.P.S. Karen and I will be back next week with a less drunken episode. Support the show: https://patreon.com/jasonandkaren
