Episode 32 | Tenebrae (1982)
đ This week we are delving into Zack's favorite scary movie, the now 40 year old Italian giallo, Tenebrae. This being a murder mystery slasher that is not as widely known to North American audiences, we will spend the first part of this episode discussing the plot from a non-spoiler perspective, including director Dario Argento's trademark style, the film's LGBTQ appeal, and how the meta nature of the story essentially makes this the Italian version of Scream, but with a very modern 80s vibe. If you've already seen the movie, we will delve into spoiler talk at 45 minutes, where we will discuss the diversity and inventiveness of the kills, how we perceive the "fill in the blanks" narrative and characterization, and as always, we'll choose which character we think was most deserving to die.
