Episode 37 | Candyman (1992)

🐝 Celebrating its 30th anniversary this week, we are very excited to finally talk about the original Candyman. In this episode, we will discuss the idea of urban legend folklore, and what drew the character of Helen Lyle to seek out the legend of Candyman. We'll also discuss our many interpretations of the story, and why Candyman is anything but another senseless slasher villain. We'll also touch upon Clive Barker's source material novella, The Forbidden, and briefly discuss the franchise in terms of the sequels, including last year's reboot. And as always, we'll be choosing which character we think was most deserving to die. I don't, however, think we mentioned Philip Glass's incredible score, so just for the sake of paying credit where credit is due, the music here is A++
