Episode 471: Neurology VMR – Found wondering naked in grocery store

We continue our campaign to #EndNeurophobia, with the help of Dr. Helen Shi. This time, Gillian presents a case of a 56 year old man found wondering naked in grocery store. The discussants are Aye and Vale.

Gillian is a second-year medical student at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. She studied philosophy and biology as an undergraduate and is fascinated by how clinical reasoning blends logic, uncertainty, and human connection. Her interests are wide-ranging, and she’s explored pediatrics through research in pediatric virology and liver disease. Outside of medicine, she enjoys running, baking (especially anything involving chocolate), and saying hito every dog she passes.

Aye is a neurology trainee from Burma, currently working in neurology clinical research at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. She is going to apply neurology residency this year. Through her experiences witnessing the challenges faced by patients in underserved areas and conflict-affected regions, Aye is dedicated to advancing health equity, global neurology, neurohumanities, and excellence in clinical practice, research, and medical education. Outside of work, she enjoys playing piano, jogging along the trails, and listening to music.

Vale is a neurology resident from UCSF. She is passionate about LGBTQ+ health, particularly advocating for trans rights, as well as medical education. She would describe herself as an optimist, and outside of medicine, you probably will find her running or talking about pop culture over a glass of wine.
