The Gift From Napoleon & The Lost Loetz Glass with Irita Marriott

Toxic Chemicals in Furniture and Fabrics in the UK - with Delyth Fetherston-Dilke & Sharon O’Connor
Sharon O’Connor returns to the show bringing with her a fellow upholsterer, Delyth Fetherston-Dilke. The pair are here to tell Harry and Simon all about the recently published government consultation on draft fire regulations for upholstered furniture, which will involve increased use of fire retardant chemicals.
Sharon and Delyth are concerned that the harm caused by these chemicals outweighs the fire safety benefit, and believe the regulations have not given proper consideration to the re-upholstery business.

The Freddie Mercury Sale & The Pig Husbandry Challenge Cup
This week Simon has been shunted off to a new office and Harry tells us all about the Sotheby's Freddie Mercury sale. Items from the Queen singer’s home went up for auction, rock and roll memorabilia such as Freddie’s prized 1973 Yamaha G2 baby grand piano and crown and cloak ensemble from the Magic tour sold for eye watering amounts. There’s also chat about classic Silver Age Marvel Comics, the Pig Husbandry Challenge Cup, why more people are downsizing, a life size fibreglass cow, and yet more problems with ivory legislation.

The Valuation Day & The Jade Leaves
Big news this week as Celebrity Antiques Road Trip will be recorded at Windsor Auctions at 10:30am on Friday 28th of July 2023. If you’re local then why not come along and see which celebrity and experts will be there. There was also a free valuation day at Simon’s local town hall where he got to appraise a 14 karat gold brooch with jade leaves woven into it, a pair of teardrop cloudy jade earrings, and Simon also found out the secret of a long and happy marriage. Harry has gripes with high street gold scrappers and also with himself for being so good at his job.

The UK Vinyl & The Negotiation Puppy
Harry’s back from a busy week of charity auctions where he sold a tandem skydive, a Ferrari VIP experience, and threatened a former MP. Simon’s also had a busy week with his new employee Pablo the dog, who seems to be a fierce negotiator. The Dough Bowl & The Angry Email
Harry and Simon are back to the usual format of both gavel and gabble! The Pinchbeck Pearl Necklace & The House Record
Today Simon is embarrassing Harry in two ways, firstly by announcing that Windsor Auctions broke their house record at the last sale. Secondly by making Producer David edit in lots of clips from that auction where Harry got the estimates a little bit wrong. There were some fantastic items that could land Harry on the ATG ‘Wall of Shame’ such as a Victorian pinchbeck pearl necklace from Watherston & Son and a silver and gold, natural saltwater pearl and diamond brooch from 1880.
Also Simon is currently looking for a new home for some very, very heavy antique printing presses. There’s chat on bidders getting a bit competitive over silver. An item that went way over estimate and the buyer wouldn’t say why. Plus Simon got a free lesson on a custom made harp from a sweet old lady.

The Diamond Rings & The 91 Year Old Bride
Today on the pod Harry and Simon actually talk about antiques and collectables instead of trying to inflict pain on each other. The Conclusive Diamond & The Illegal Eye Clinic

The Upholsterer & The Neon Chair - with Sharon O’Connor
Today on the podcast Harry and Simon have a fantastic and funny guest for you, Sharon O’Connor. Following a 20 year career in fashion, Sharon re-trained with the Association of Master Upholsterers and the Cass Art Faculty of Design before starting her business, Vintique Upholstery, in 2013.
From her studio in Sunbury-on-Thames, Sharon re-upholsters pre-loved items of furniture, restoring them to their former glory, creating bespoke, statement pieces. You can find her as the Upholsterer on BBC One's Money For Nothing programme as well as appearing on podcasts and writing articles for magazines and newspapers.
She joins Harry and Simon to tell them her inspiring story of learning to do it yourself, as well as make Simon feel bad for not passing his screen test for telly, tell you what a rub count is…. No it’s not what you’re thinking, and she shares some really great resources for anyone interested in upholstery.

The Flu & The Handbag Dogs

The Blacksmith & The Apology

The Therapy Mustang & The Royal Doulton Figurines
This week Simon is head over heels in love, which for a married man shouldn’t come as a surprise. The surprise is that it’s with a rather lovely Ford Mustang. The RNLI Charity Auction Special
