Circle Jerks, ‘Group Sex’: The Bite‑Size Blueprint of LA Hardcore

In this episode we trace the birth of the Circle Jerks in 1980 Los Angeles, the DIY environment that birthed their blister‑fast single “Group Sex,” and how a 1½‑minute demo pressed on orange vinyl became an archetypal hardcore touchstone for generations. From the band’s formation, rehearsal habits, cheap studio work at Ocean Studios, to the limited pressing run and grassroots distribution network, we unpack the musical construction, scene politics, and lasting influence of this key piece of punk history.
