Dave Vanian’s Vampiric Vision: The Dawn of Gothic Punk

In this episode we track Dave Vanian's rise from the UK punk scene to becoming the archetypal vampire frontman, examine how his theatrical flair pushed the Damned beyond raw punk into psychedelic and gothic territory, and trace that lineage to the emergence of bands like Bauhaus and other gothic acts. We unpack live show theatrics, early recordings, label politics, and how a single persona helped seed an entire subgenre.
