Dead Kennedys and the Split That Broke the Anti‑Establishment Ideal
Om avsnittet
The episode dives into why the Dead Kennedys disbanded in early 1986: artistic clashes over political messaging, financial strain under Alternative Tentacles, and touring fatigue. It examines how the last album, Bedtime for Democracy, was released just after the split, the ensuing lawsuit over royalties, and what happened when members tried to reform. Listeners learn the real mechanics—record‑pressing, independent distribution, club bookings—that made a punk band both revolutionary and fragile.
