Dictators: Pioneers of Pre‑Punk Chaos in Early New York

This episode explores The Dictators, the 1972 New York band that delivered raw, theatrical shows and low‑budget releases long before punk was named. From basement gigs to their 1975 single “Go Girl Crazy!” we trace how they built a DIY infrastructure—mail‑order sales, handmade sleeves, and fanzine promotion—that fed the nascent CBGB scene and foreshadowed what would become the punk rock movement.
