Discharge and the Birth of D‑Beat

From their cramped London rehearsal rooms to the battle‑cried streets of Scandinavia, this episode traces how Discharge’s raw debut forged the relentless D‑beat pattern that rippled through hardcore, crust punk and even early metal. We unpack the band’s origins, the DIY pressures that shaped Clay Records’ limited pressing, the spread of the drum groove across international scenes, and how the simple yet ferocious rhythm became a blueprint for generations of underground musicians.
