Dischord's Disruptors: How Flex Your Head Ignited DC Hardcore

The episode traces how Dischord Records’ 1980 compilation Flex Your Head captured a raw, politically charged lineup of Washington D.C.’s first hardcore bands—Teen Idles, Untouchables, State Of Alert and Minor Threat—and turned DIY pressing and all‑ages shows into an international punk movement. It explores the label’s low‑budget recording methods, underground distribution network, the compilation’s spread to UK venues and its lasting legacy for later DC scenes such as Fugazi and The dB's.
