Leeds Post‑Punk in Flux: How Art Schools, Marxist Theory, and DIY Grit Forged a Political Punk Culture

This episode uncovers how Leeds’ university and art school scene in the late 1970s blended avant‑garde theory, Marxist critique, and raw punk energy. It charts the rise of bands like The Mekons and Delta Five, the influence of fanzines and independent labels such as Rough Trade, and how these elements converged to create a uniquely politicized post‑punk underground that resonated across Britain.
