MC5 and the Birth of Political Punk Noise

This episode traces the Detroit band MC5—formed in 1964 from garage‑rock roots—and examines how their explosive live shows, alliance with the White Panther Party, raw demo recordings, and DIY release tactics prefigured punk rock. We dig into the city’s industrial atmosphere, the political urgency of the late 1960s, and the lasting influence on later punk and hard‑core scenes.
