Operation Ivy: The Birth of East Bay Ska‑Punk
Om avsnittet
The episode chronicles Operation Ivy’s brief but explosive existence, from their 1987 formation in the San Francisco Bay Area to the release of the seminal album *Energy*. It examines how their blend of hardcore speed and reggae‑skank rhythm created a template for ska‑punk, supported by the DIY infrastructure at 924 Gilman Street and early Lookout! Records. The discussion also explores the band’s impact on subsequent acts like Rancid and the wider punk‑ska movement.
