Radio Birdman and the Birth of the Australian Punk Underground

In this episode we trace how Radio Birdman—fronted by Deniz Tek and Rob Younger—shaped Sydney’s 1970s punk scene with a raw, Stooges‑influenced sound. We dig into their DIY record pressing, the grassroots clubs like Oxford Funhouse, and the underground network that fed the Australian underground to the rest of the world. The story shows how limited resources and relentless touring forged one of the most influential punk movements outside of the U.S. and U.K.
