Subhumans and Vancouver’s DIY Hardcore Revolution

The episode dives into the story of Vancouver’s Subhumans, a late‑1970s punk band whose raw energy, political punch and do‑it‑yourself ethos helped launch the city’s hardcore scene. It examines how they formed in cramped rehearsal spaces, used photocopied flyers to build an underground network, fought police crackdowns, and released key recordings that echoed through later Canadian punk acts.
