The Adolescents and the Birth of a California Punk Classic

This episode follows the story behind The Adolescents’ debut record, the Blue Album, covering how a lineup change in Orange County, a tight recording budget, a DIY label partnership with Frontier Records, and a raw yet hook‑laden sound helped create one of the first widely influential East Bay punk releases. It explores the band’s formation, studio choices, distribution tactics, and the early scene infrastructure that carried the album beyond its local roots.
