The Dils and the Rise of Revolutionary West Coast Punk

This episode traces The Dils, a short‑lived but politically militant West Coast punk outfit whose raw sound and left‑wing lyrics foreshadowed later hardcore scenes. It examines how their DIY releases on local independent pressings, all‑ages club shows in Los Angeles and San Diego, and engagement with early fanzines helped create a new revolutionary punk ethos. The story reveals how the band’s brief career influenced protest punk across California and beyond.
