The Exploited, Wattie Buchan, and the Rise of UK82

This episode follows the Edinburgh‑born band The Exploited from their early 1970s formation through Wattie Buchan’s arrival on vocals to the emergence of UK82—a second‑wave British punk movement defined by raw energy, DIY distribution and a working‑class identity. It explores how the group’s limited studio resources and grassroots pressings carved out an international scene, how they pushed back against mainstream commercial pressure, and how their legacy influenced later street‑punk revivals.
