The Screamers: Seattle Synth‑Punks Who Never Hit a Studio

This episode uncovers the story of the Seattle duo Tomata du Plenty and Tommy Gear who moved to Los Angeles in the late ’70s, forged an aggressive synth‑driven punk sound, played legendary clubs like Echo and Cuckoo’s Nest, and left a legacy through demo tapes and live notoriety despite never recording a studio album. We trace their origins, touring strategy, DIY infrastructure, and how they influenced later electro‑punk and synth‑heavy acts.
