The Slits & Their Dub‑Infused Post‑Punk Classic “Cut”

This episode dives into The Slits’ 1979 breakthrough, their collaboration with dub producer Dennis Bovell, and how the London punk scene fused with reggae rhythms to birth a landmark post‑punk record. We trace the band’s origins, the DIY label Rough Trade, the remote Ridge Farm studio sessions, the album’s raw yet spacious sound, its provocative cover art, and the legacy it planted for later acts from Joy Division to Fugazi.
