Stephen the Great and the Fortress of Chilia
Om avsnittet
In this episode, Lucas and Luna explore Stephen the Great's campaign to defend the fortress of Chilia on the Danube Delta, a key strategic outpost of Moldavia. They delve into the 1465 siege against Ottoman-backed Wallachian forces, Stephen's military tactics, the role of the Danube in border defense, and the fortress's eventual fall after his reign. The conversation touches on medieval siege warfare, Stephen's alliance with Hungary, and the lasting legacy of Chilia as a symbol of resistance. Along the way, they reflect on how small acts of support keep the show ad-free and listener-funded.
