The Dacian Shepherd King: Burebista's Forgotten Empire

Long before Decebalus and Trajan's Dacian Wars, another king united the Dacian tribes into a formidable empire that threatened even Julius Caesar. This episode follows Burebista, the priest-king who, with the help of the mysterious wizard-priest Deceneus, transformed Dacian society, conquered the Greek cities of the Black Sea coast, and carved out a kingdom that stretched from the Carpathians to the Danube. We explore the archaeological clues to his reign, the riddle of his capital Argedava, and the brutal assassination that shattered his empire. Lucas and Luna discuss the Dacian bull-headed standard, the sacred mountain Kogaionon, and how Burebista's shadow loomed over Rome's eastern frontier. A story of ambition, mysticism, and a lost golden age that still echoes in Romanian folklore.
