The Scythian Gold of Romania: Art, Myth, and Plunder
Om avsnittet
This episode explores the extraordinary Scythian gold treasures found on Romanian soil, from the princely tombs at Agighiol and Peretu to the enigmatic Găvăno-Diculești hoard. Lucas and Luna discuss the Scythians' presence in ancient Dobruja, their interactions with the Getae, and the masterful goldworking techniques that produced animal-style art. They also examine the tragic fate of these artifacts during World War I and the ongoing controversies over repatriation. Along the way, they touch on the Apulum hoard, the Sarmizegetusa silver treasure, and the modern-day hunt for looted antiquities.
