2023 sure is an interesting time to be talking to a member of Fear Factory, specifically guitarist Dino Cazares, who – after the departure of long-time vocalist Burton C. Bell in 2021 – is now the last founding member of the influential LA band.
These are days filled with conversations about AI and the future of our species – many of them have taken place on this very podcast – and given the influence of sci-fi on the group's discography, I obviously wanted to get into that with Dino. But I also wanted to talk about Burton, and the coming new era of the group – who now have a new vocalist, Milo Silvestro – and when you might expect to hear new Fear Factory music. I’ll tell you now, it’s probably sooner than you think.
We also get under the synthetic skin of the recently released Re-Industrialized, the reworked version of the groups eighth studio album The Industrialist, a contentious release when it arrived into the world back in 2012. Oh, and we also talk about our bowels. That’s quite early on, so feel free to skip ahead five minutes or so if you’re listening while you’re eating.
