There’s been a bunch of really long episodes of this podcast recently, so it’s about time there was a short one. And yet it’s a good one I think, even if the audio is a bit scratchy in places, and it’s one with one of my favourite living songwriters, Greg Barnett, from Scranton, Pennsylvania indie rock titans The Menzingers. The purpose of our conversation is to talk about Greg’s debut solo record, Don’t Go Throwing Roses in My Grave, which came into the world last month on Epitaph. It’s an excellent set of songs; grown and cultivated within the global weirdness of 2020. A lot of death in there. A lot of fear and introspection. But we get to The Menzingers too, don’t worry about that. Don’t worry at all.
