There’s an album I’ve really enjoyed this year. It’s called Here's What You could Have Won and it’s by the Hastings born punk band Kid Kapichi. It’s shouty and funny and its songs do a pretty good job at squewering the grizzled mess that is England right now. I’ve always been a sucker for that kind of thing. Late era Gallows, Slaves, Carter USM, Sex Pistols, Billy Bragg. Englands bleeeeeeding. That sort of thing.
And so I thought I’d check in with singer Jack Wilson before the year was out to talk gentrification, America’s opiod crisis, corrupt politicians… and The Beatles. Because whatever shit we might have to endure, we’ve always got The Beatles. My gut is telling me that 2023 is going to be a big year for them. Not The Beatles, Kid Kapichi. All you need is love. And hate. Which is sometimes the same thing, I think...
