RIOPY: A Forbidden Piano and a Life Saved by Music

Composer and pianist RIOPY joins The Jeremiah Show to talk candidly about his life, career, and creative process. He shares his early childhood growing up in a restrictive cult, where music was forbidden — and how he secretly taught himself composition on a piano he wasn’t allowed to touch. That experience, he explains, shaped both his discipline and his emotional connection to music.

 

RIOPY discusses his escape, his path to becoming a Steinway Artist, and key moments in his career, including Chris Martin of Coldplay purchasing a piano for him. The conversation also covers his work composing for major global brands such as Mercedes and the Calm app, hitting a billion streams, and extensive worldwide touring.

 

He explains how many of his piano pieces are written to align with the human heartbeat, his work on a meditation app currently in development, and his upcoming album, Be Love, releasing January 16.
