Through the composition “Fracking and Me,” AKT transforms scientific data, seismic recordings, field recordings and testimonies from affected communities into an immersive sonic experience that blurs the line between science and art. In the piece, hydraulic fracturing, an oil and gas extraction method, is introduced as a destructive practice linked to water contamination, methane emissions and induced earthquakes, resulting in the increasingly prevalent devastating state of affairs when it comes to the lives of humans, animals and plants.
