Kevin developed an interest in Machine Learning in 2014, which combined with his decades of experience in ultrasound, he noticed a need in the industry for Ultrasound of which was portable, affordable and able to provide optimal results. He started his career within this sector as a sales rep for ATL Ultrasound which is considered to be one of the pioneers in the industry and a University of Washington spin off.
On this episode he covers the misunderstandings of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, his developments for the future consisting of AI disrupting the industry with new business models, the need for devices to become smaller, more powerful and less expensive, the three common denominators in healthcare that have the most impact which include: Time, Quality and Variation, cases where algorithms are proving to outperform physicians such as in the case of Mammography and why the location of Seattle, Washington is a well-known hub for Ultrasound technology.
