QUESTIONS - Should Churches Deny Membership To Families That Use Public Schools?

Do you believe that a family should be denied church membership if they place their children in public school? My wife and I were told that we had to prove our repentance by my wife quitting her job and homeschooling our children before we would be considered for membership at our local church. Is this biblical?
