The plaintiff says she was in her parked car at the grocery store when the careless defendant’s shopping cart crashed into her door and damaged it. She’s suing for the cost of repairs. The defendant says it was a snowy, windy day, and the wind blew it toward the plaintiff’s car. She claims she owes nothing. Then, the plaintiff says she’s known the defendant for years and hired him to lay down fresh sod in her yard. Instead, he put in half-dead brown sod, so she’s suing for the shoddy job, and punitive and emotional damages. The defendant says the plaintiff didn’t give the sod time to grow in, and he won’t return any money. Plus, the plaintiff says he and the defendant were close friends and former roommates. He claims his former friend owes him money for rent, damages, a bail bond, and airline tickets, so he’s suing. The defendant says the let the plaintiff live with him rent-free, so they’re square.
