Not Mending Fences

The plaintiff lives next door to the defendant. She says the defendant hired a guy to trim a tree, but the tree guy damaged the plaintiff’s fence. The plaintiff says the tree trimmers broke her fence and refuse to get it fixed. She’s suing for property damage. The defendant argues the plaintiff complains about everything and didn’t even know she was being sued.

Then, the defendant is the plaintiff’s friend and neighbor. The defendant needed money via PayPal, so he asked the plaintiff if he could borrow it and he would pay her back immediately. The plaintiff says the money was taken out of her account, but she has not been paid back, so she’s suing. The defendant argues his iPad was stolen and the burglars broke into his PayPal account, so everything has been on hold.

Plus, in the third case, the plaintiffs had three purebred bulldogs. They said their purchase contract requires the dogs to get neutered, but the defendants didn’t have their dog fixed. The plaintiffs say the defendants refuse to return the puppy they got from the plaintiffs, so they’re suing for breach of contract. The defendants say the agreement only requires the dog to get fixed if they wanted their American Kennel Club paperwork, which they have no interest in. They argue they don’t want to neuter the dog because it changes the dog’s temperament, and they don’t plan on breeding it.
