Turning Down a Tenant

The plaintiff says she woke to thick smoke in her kitchen and could not escape because the door was blocked in the apartment she rented on the third floor of a house, so she jumped. She’s out thousands in her belongings, so she’s suing. The defendant says the plaintiff’s lawsuit is crazy because the fire was her fault. She fell asleep while cooking rice in a faulty pot. Plus, the plaintiff says she bought a mobile home in Florida and had to make upgrades, so she hired the defendant. He took so long that she had to hire someone else, so she’s suing for the deposit back.
