Turning the Wheels of Rough Justice

The plaintiff says the defendant is her ex-boyfriend and the father of her young son. They bought a car together and he kept it after they split, so she’s suing him for the money she put down on the purchase. The defendant says he traded in his van for the car and says the plaintiff owes him money from their tax return, so they’re even.   Then, the plaintiff says the defendant is his ex-girlfriend. He’s suing her because he claims she owes him money for the engagement ring he bought her, which she refuses to return. The defendant says she moved in with the plaintiff not long after his wife of 35 years died. She claims the ring was a gift and wasn’t a proposal.  Plus, the plaintiff says she was making a U-turn in front of her house when the defendants failed to stop and rammed her with their truck. She claims they were driving with expired insurance, so she’s suing them for the cost of the car repairs.
