First, the plaintiff says the defendant, his former girlfriend, damaged the outside door to his basement and took some of his belongings. He is suing for the cost of the property damage and the missing items. The defendant claims he locked her out of the house while she was in her pajamas, and when she called the police, she was told to go through the basement door. She is countersuing for lost wages, claiming he got her fired out of spite. Then, the plaintiffs, a couple, claim their former landlord didn’t allow them to retrieve their belongings after a hurricane forced them to evacuate. They’re suing for the personal property. The defendant denies owing. Plus, after a fender bender in a grocery store parking lot, the plaintiffs are suing the defendant for their insurance deductible and attorney fees. The defendant claims she was not at fault and neither car had been damaged, so they decided not to call the police. She is convinced the plaintiffs are running a scam.
