Jim Morrison is a ski mountaineer and the subject of “Everest: The Other Side,” the new film from Jimmy Chin and Chai Vasarhelyi.
A year ago, he accomplished an impossible first: skiing Everest’s direct North Face from the summit. Jim has also endured unimaginable loss – his wife and two young children in a 2011 plane crash, then his partner, Hilaree Nelson, in a 2022 avalanche on Manaslu.
We discuss grief, fear, the legacies of the people he’s lost, and why loss isn’t about living without the people you love, but bringing them with you.
