Alejandro Iñárritu on ‘Bardo’ inspirations, re-editing after Venice premiere

In our first episode covering the 2022/2023 awards season, Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu, a two-time best director Oscar winner for 'Birdman' and 'The Revenant', talks to Screen contributing editor Mark Salisbury about his latest project, Mexican Oscar entry 'Bardo, False Chronicle Of A Handful Of Truths'. Iñárritu explains why it took him so long to follow up 2015’s 'The Revenant', cutting more than 20 minutes of footage from 'Bardo' after its Venice premiere, and the real-life inspiration for the project. 'Bardo' is released in select UK cinemas on November 18, before launching worldwide on Netflix on December 16.
